My Tomatoes in the Polytunnel

I took these photos of my various kinds of tomatoes yesterday, just before I picked the really ripe ones to make more of my pasta sauce (which I store in glass jars for the year).

  2. Hi, I'm as green as my tomatoes with envy. What a beautiful crop! We're getting a polytunnel this year so hopefully our big croppers who were shoved outside for lack of space in the greenhouse will look as good as yours next year. I'm away to see if you have a pasta sauce recipe :)

  3. Hi Mo and Steve - Yes there is my pasta sauce recipe on here, you can find it my clicking on Tomatoes as far as I can remember.
    When I make it (which is about every 2 days at the moment) I don't actually measure anything. I more throw in the chopped tomatoes and then think hmmmm 2 onions would be good and maybe 4 cloves of garlic and 'this' amount of basil !

  5. Hours of TLC and 100% organic feed !
    (my own dried donkey manure & Aldi's organic chicken manure pellets in soil, then seaweed liquid feed and water from the well during the summer).
    They are from saved seed from last year mostly, but some were new seeds. I sow in trays and then pot up into small pots and then out into the main raised beds in the tunnel.
    And I sow the seed early !!! Makes a big difference. I have acres of bubble wrap and mini plastic cloches (recycled transparent food wrapping you get fruit etc in) which keeps them really warm early in the season at night.
